Philippe Huart aims to show the effects of advertising, marketing and the consumer society on our unconscious minds.
His painting has its origins in an objective reality - where there is nothing else except what is visible. The artist does not deal with elements of daily life but with its signs, of which there are masses in our everyday environment by now, whether public or private – so many that we just don’t notice them any more.
Such quantities and the frequency of their appearances have made them banal, but the juxtaposition or imposition of their magnified fragments makes us see them afresh, as if they were new, yet still familiar.
