Product Details

The Montblanc ExoTourbillon Rattrapante combines a split-seconds chronograph and Montblanc’s patented ExoTourbillon, which has a large balance that oscillates outside the tourbillon’s rotating cage, a unique timepiece in the world of fine watchmaking. The advantages of isolating the balance from the rotating cage are: 1) A smaller cage has less mass and needs less energy to move it. The saved energy is used for the chronograph and the split-seconds function 2) The balance performs with greater precision because it is not disturbed by the inertia of the cage. The three-dimensional regulator-style dial is made of gold, decorated with grand feu enamel elements crafted in accordance with the tradition of fine Swiss watchmaking, and includes a display for a second time zone with a day/night indicator. The case measures 47 mm in diameter, is polished to a high-gloss finish, and is complemented by a highly domed sapphire crystal with vertically descending flanks. Its imposing size gives an impression of the substance that lies behind fine watchmaking. The ExoTourbillon Rattrapante is available in a limited edition of eighteen watches, each with an 18-karat white gold case.
