2012 - Istvan Vardai

On October 29, 2012, Montblanc honored the 27-year-old Hungarian cellist István Várdai with the PRIX Montblanc 2012 during a splendid gala concert at the “Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt” in Berlin. The supportive award was handed over by Lutz Bethge, CEO of Montblanc International, and the PRIX Montblanc jury, comprising Prof. Justus Frantz, Prof. Li Biao, Prof. Dr. Jürgen Christ, with star cellist Mischa Maisky in attendance. The PRIX Montblanc 2012 includes €10,000 and a Montblanc Donation Pen Johannes Brahms.
At the age of 27, the Hungarian cellist István Várdai can already look back on great success, having won several awards in numerous international competitions, such as the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach, Austria in 2006 and the 63rd Geneva International Music Competition.
The award evening was accompanied by a concert of the Philharmonia of the Nations under the musical direction of Prof. Justus Frantz.
