2010 - Niu Niu

Montblanc Arts And Culture Music Pianist Niu Niu Close-Up

Since 2005, Montblanc has honoured young, emerging instrumentalists in the classical music world with the PRIX Montblanc. The award includes 10,000 US dollars as well as the Montblanc “Donation Pen Arturo Toscanini”; the donation made with each purchase serving to promote further competitions.

On 6 October, PRIX Montblanc 2010 was handed over to the rising star in the realm of classical music: 13-year-old Niu Niu, whose CD release “Niu Niu plays Chopin: The Complete Etudes” distinguished him as the youngest pianist ever to record all Chopin Etudes.

The award was handed over to the young Chinese talent by Lutz Bethge, CEO of Montblanc International, and the acclaimed PRIX Montblanc Jury. The event took place at the “Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt” in Berlin during a gala concert of the Philharmonia of the Nations and was, as in previous years, attended by numerous international celebrities.
