Montblanc Arts And Culture Young Directors Award Winner 2007 Peeping Tom Close-Up

In 2007, Montblanc celebrated the Young Directors Project with four young artists and their companies from Belgium, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands as part of the Young Directors Project 2007. They represented four directions in theatrical creativity in Europe, four genres and four ways of expression.

The audience enjoyed Peeping Tom from Belgium with LE SALON, Motus from Italy with COME UN CANE SENZA PADRONE, Björn Auftrag and Stefanie Lorey from Germany with WMF. WIEDERSEHEN MACHT FREUDE and Hotel Modern from the Netherlands with LAGER.

For the first time, all selected productions were shown on a repertory basis at the “republic” theatre. The performances in their original language were shown with English and German subtitles. The jury, consisting of Dr Helga Rabl-Stadler (president of the Salzburg Festival), Thaddaeus Ropac (Galerie Ropac), Peter Simonischek (actor), Wolfgang Kralicek (cultural critic), was this year joined by actress Sunnyi Melles for the first time. They awarded Simon Versnel for his direction of LE SALON, which was performed by the Belgian theatre ensemble Peeping Tom with the Montblanc Young Directors Award 2007 and the exclusive Montblanc “Hommage à Max Reinhardt” writing instrument.
