In 2011, Montblanc celebrated 10 years of the Young Directors Project, with outstanding performances by five upcoming theatre directors and their ensembles from Belgium, Denmark, Great Britain, Sweden and the United States.
For the tenth time, Montblanc entirely sponsored this innovative theatre project, which gives young and international theatre directors the unique opportunity of presenting their extraordinary talent to the broad audience of the Salzburg Festival. The expert jury honoured the most convincing performance with the Montblanc Young Directors Award, € 10,000 in prize money and the exclusive Montblanc Limited Edition "Hommage à Max Reinhardt" Fountain Pen.
The five outstanding productions nominated for the Young Directors Project 2011 were: “Das ehemalige Haus” by SIGNA, “Symphony of a Missing Room” by Lundahl & Seitl, “A Game of You” by Ontroerend Goed, “The Dinner Club – Salzburg Classes” by Poste Restante and “Mission Drift” by The TEAM.
The jury of prominent experts, including Dr Helga Rabl-Stadler (President of the Salzburg Festival), Thaddaeus Ropac (Ropac Gallery), actors Birgit Minichmayr and Klaus Maria Brandauer, and the journalist Dr Andrea Schurian, awarded Lundahl & Seitel with the Young Directors Award 2011.
The British ensemble convinced the jury with their outstanding play "Symphony of a Missing Room" as it displays consistently high quality in its intellectual approach, concept and performance.
