2008 - Alina Ibragimova

The 23-year-old violinist Alina Ibragimova was the winner of the PRIX Montblanc 2008. The award was presented to the outstanding young violinist during the gala concert at the "Komische Oper" in Berlin on 9th October 2008.

Alina Ibragimova was born in Russia and grew up in a musical household. She began playing violin at the age of four, giving concerts as young as six. When she was ten, she moved with her family to the UK, where her mother works as a professor of violin at the Yehudi Menuhin School and her father is the principal bass player with the London Symphony Orchestra.

Alina's recent career highlights have included her BBC Proms debut; directing the Kremerata Baltica from the violin at the Salzburg Mozarteum during Mozartwoche; her debut CD for Hyperion Records for whom she records exclusively; and the televised opening gala concert of the 2008 MDR Musiksommer Festival.

Hundreds of selected celebrities and highly respected Montblanc clients were personally invited to enjoy the gala evening as VIP guests with the Philharmonia of the Nations in the "Komische Oper."
