2003

The second Young Directors Project, powered by Montblanc in 2003, again invited three young directors to present their productions during the Salzburg Festival. Alvis Hermanis contributed his piece REVIZOR, which focuses on contemporary, modern repertory. The competing candidates Monika Gintersdorfer, in cooperation with the Deutsches Theater Berlin, presented DIE FRAU VOM MEER, while Antonio Latella showed his piece PORCIL in cooperation with the Teatro Nuovo, Naples, and the Teatro Garibaldi, Palermo.

In the end, the Montblanc Young Directors Award 2003 went to Alvis Hermanis for his direction of Nikolai Gogol’s REVIZOR, a production by Jaunais Rigas Teatris in cooperation with the Salzburg Festival. The lucky winner received €10,000 in prize money, as well as an exclusive Montblanc “Hommage à Max Reinhardt” writing instrument, designed especially for the Young Directors Project.
