Quincy Jones

Long-term support of music education

On 2 October 2012, Montblanc honoured Quincy Jones, music legend and long-time supporter of the arts, with the 21st annual Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

The invited guests such as Morgan Freeman, Rashida Jones, Teri Hatcher, Selita Ebanks, Billy Zane and Jesse Williams enjoyed a performance by the famous concert pianist and Chairman of the Montblanc Cultural Foundation Lang Lang.

Jones was chosen in recognition of his role in supporting, nurturing, and guiding the music industry throughout the 21st century. He will donate the $ 20,000 prize money to the Jazz Foundation of America, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the financial and medical support of ageing jazz musicians.

"Over the past 21 years, Montblanc celebrated the great journey and success of this unique award by honouring various outstanding personalities, including Yoko Ono, Dominique du Menil, Sir Simon Rattle and Lord Rothschild, in more than 12 different countries. We are very pleased to honour the legendary artist Quincy Jones," said Ingrid Roosen-Trinks, Director of the Montblanc Cultural Foundation.
