THE STORY
This collection of limited-edition writing instruments honours the unique legacy of writer Robert Louis Stevenson, essayist, poet, travel writer, and iconic novelist.
Stevenson helped to shape not one, but two genres of fiction. Firstly, with his classic novel “Treasure Island”, his wild imagination gave readers their first real taste of adventure fiction. Then, not three years later, he ventured into gothic fiction with “The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde”, a book that defines the genre for many.
Still widely read and constantly adapted for stage and screen, his work remains a cornerstore of literature.

LIMITED EDITION
The silhouette of the writing instrument gives the impression of a historical, extendable spyglass and is reminiscent of Stevenson's adventurous sailor and pirate stories.
The duality of human nature described in Stevenson’s works is symbolised in the Writers Edition by an engraving of ‘Under the wide and starry sky’, written in mirror writing on the platinum-coated cap top ring. This is the first line of Stevenson’s poem ‘Requiem’, immortalised on his gravestone.
Vertical lines that bring to mind the planks of the schooner Hispaniola and a traditional sea chest adorn the cap of the Writers Edition. The Cap ring features the author´s signature as well as the year 1866 – the year of Stevenson´s first (unofficial) publication: The Pentland Rising: A Page of History, 1866. Stevenson's life dates (1850 - 1894) are engraved on the back of the cap.
As a reference to Robert Louis Stevenson’s passion for seafaring and his decision to settle in the South Seas, the handcrafted, solid Au 750 gold nib, rhodium-coated, is engraved with fine waves and the title given by the Samoans to the great writer and world traveller, ‘Tusitala’, which translates as „teller of stories“.
