His life achievements and philosophy emphasises that the point of traditional alpinism and adventure is not just getting to the top but also savoring the whole experience of doing so. Embodying the vintage aesthetic and spirit of exploration, the new 1858 Geosphere Limited Edition harmoniously contrasts bronze, blue, and rose gold-coated elements and is an ode to Messner’s legacy. Limited to 262 pieces, the timepiece refers to all the peaks over 26,200 feet that he climbed during his career.

adventurer setting out on a major expedition.”
Reinhold Messner
The new theme is a nod to Reinhold Messner’s 2004 solo trek across the Gobi Desert – 2000 kilometres of extreme temperatures and incredible adventure. To capture the rocky terrain's colour scheme, the timepiece harmoniously combines a fully micro-blasted bronze case, brown ceramic bezel, smoked brown to beige lacquered dial, and a matching vintage-brown calf strap.

03 ENGRAVING
We use a very special technique recreate the Gobi Desert on the titanium case back. First the relief of the landscape is precisely engraved with a laser, and then shading is added with laser-generated oxidation. The finished image is remarkably lifelike, and unlike any engraving you've seen before.
