Product name Montblanc Heritage Egyptomania A Revival of Ancient Egyptian Treasures Limited Edition 72 Fountain Pen
This exquisite Montblanc High Artistry Collection is an homage to the ancient Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun and his legendary golden death mask. The overall design of the fountain pen’s sarcophagus is inspired by the shape of the sarcophagi of the kings and queens of ancient Egypt. It provides protection for the edition’s fountain pen, which is decorated with engravings of ancient Egyptian patterns and bears a turquoise in its cone. For the first time, the name Montblanc has been translated into hieroglyphs (literally ‘white stone mountain’), which are engraved on a cartouche on the barrel. Crafted from yellow gold and sterling silver, which was highly prized by the ancient Egyptians, the sarcophagus also features an intricate pattern inspired by details from Tutankhamun’s sarcophagus. Furthermore, the sarcophagus features hand-engraved and with black lacquer refined hieroglyphics from the Book of the Dead of Hunefer. A magnificant scarab made of lapis lazuli (as a sign of eminence) adorns the cap. In front of it, the scarab pushes the fiery red sun in the form of a carnelian (representing stability), while behind him he pulls a semicircular turquoise (symbol of life and happiness). The Au 750 white gold top of the sarcophagus’ cap is adorned with the Montblanc emblem surrounded by turquoise lacquer. Tutankhamun’s gorgeous golden death mask is reflected in several details of the edition, like the lacquer colours and stripes on the fountain pen, made of solid Au 750 white gold. Tutankhamun’s royal insignia – the crook and flagellum – are immortalised in an engraving on the handcrafted Au 750 solid gold nib.
