A Journey on the Orient Express Limited Edition 1 Ruby  


The oval-shaped  Edition, whose silhouette emulates the oval form of the Orient Express cars, pays tribute to the story of Lord baden-Powell with an intricate butterfly made of plique-à-jour enamel at the heart of its design.  The spy and a naturalist, Baden-Powell sketched butterflies that hid detailed drawings of the enemy fortifications that he had seen.

The entire fountain pen is covered with daimoands and individual-cut rubies celebrating the Art Decó movement and the upholstering of the Orient Express. It's cap top, which opens to reveal a functional miniature watch, is decorated with a splendid ruby.

The Edition is inspired by Art Déco marquetry motifs designed by René Prou found inside the train. It is crafted from special handengraving and diamonds and its adorned by a splendid blue sapphire at the cap top. 

The wooden traveller case, especially designed to hold and
protect the writing instrument, is inlaid with handcrafted ornamental wood marquetry in the style of the original Orient Express panelling and cabinetry designed by René Prou. It's further adorned with a Minerva watch movement dial and an inkwell.

The Edition  expresses the elegant style of the early 20th century with an abstract pattern made of solid Au 750 signature gold and hand-carved red chalcedony stone, reflecting the upholstery pattern created for the Orient Express. It's cap top, which opens to reveal a functional miniature watch, is decorated with a Montblanc diamond. 


In a tribute to Mata Hari, one of the more mysterious passengers who frequented the Orient Express, a window in the barrel opens to reveal a delicate handcrafted miniature painting of this famous dancer.

This Edition crafted from stained sycamore wood, decorated with handcrafted gold-leaf and crystal flower inlays modelled on the train’s luxurious interiors including the wood marquetry of René Prou and the molded glass and silver inlays by René Lalique. 


Agatha Christie's - who was herseld amongst the illustrous passsenders during the Express` hehday - crime novel "Murder on the Orient Express" from 1934 influenced the design with its many references to the details of the fictional case.

Calling back to the enigmatic, smoke-engulfed locomotive of the Orient Express with its technical components and functions. The Limited Edition 83 focuses on innovation and the ultra-modern luxury of the Express of this era, which caused a sensation when it stopped at stations like Gare de Lyon. The massive iron structure beneath which passengers would board at this famous Paris station are immortalized in the engravings on the forepart, and its cone is engraved with the historical routes of the Orient Express from 1930.

The distinctive colour code of the Orient Express inspires the Limited Edition 333. Opulent interior décor was equalled by the elegant midnight blue,  ivory-coloured, and gold livery on the outside of the cars. Ornate metal provides the design of the skeleton overlay and the artwork on the nib is inspired by Art Déco flower artwork by René Prou.

Created in midnight-blue precious resin, complimented with the Montblanc emblem in ivory-hued precious resin and yellow gold-coated fitttings to resemble the historical palette of the Orient Express. Artwork on the nib and cap are inspired by René Prou’s masterful marquetry featured on the Orient Express.
