Yes, Rollerball and Fineliner refills are interchangeable. Please note that LeGrand size refills cannot be used in writing instruments that are suitable for the standard size and vice versa.

No Rollerball and Fineliner refills cannot be used in a ballpoint pen and vice versa.

The Ballpoint refill uses ink paste and one can use a certain amount of pressure while writing. Therefore ballpoint refills are perfect for filling forms with multiple pages and for writers who write a lot. Our ballpoint pens have a twist mechanism, which protrudes and retracts the refill.

The Rollerball uses liquid ink, similar to fountain pen ink. The majority of our Rollerballs have a cap, which you need to take off before writing. Closing the cap ensures that the ink does not dry up. There are only a few which do not have a cap, e.g. the Rollerball Capless which uses the special "capless refill".

Yes, we do  have leads for our mechanical pencils. Please find them under "Stationery & Refills", "Writing Instruments" and filter on "Writing mode" mechanical pencil.

Yes. Please take them to your usual dry cleaning service in case of suits etc. or wash them in your machine with 30°. Please note, that this does not apply to permanent ink and to ballpoint paste.

The permanent inks are high quality iso-certified (14145-2) inks that are resistant against bleaching, water and light and of significant deep black or blue, respectively. That means that the colour does not change even after a longer period of time. Depending on the paper, it may take a little longer until the writing is dried completely. We recommend to clean the fountain pen more frequently (every 2 to 3 weeks) Ideally, the fountain pen should be used several times a week and rinsed after use.

If this time is significantly exceeded, it may be that pigments have permanently settled in the feeder and can no longer be removed by normal rinsing. In that case, a thorough inspection of the fountain pen at the Service Centre would be necessary.

Yes, we do  have leads for our mechanical pencils. You can order them through a BTQ or an authorized dealer.

Please store them in a cool, dry place.

When using permanent ink, please note that these inks have to be treated somewhat differently with regard to cleaning intervals due to their high pigment content. We recommend cleaning fountain pens used with a Montblanc permanent ink every 2-3 weeks with clear cold water - depending on the frequency of use. Ideally, the fountain pen should be used several times a week and rinsed after use.

Yes, it is possible to order erasers. Please contact the BTQ or an authorized dealer of your choice to order erasers.

There are fountain pens with piston filling mechanism which you can fill only from an ink bottle. These are, for example, our Special Edition and Limited Edition writing instuments or our Meisterstück Le Grand and 149 sizes. Some fountain pens are to be used with ink cartridges only.  Some writing instruments, for example,  Meisterstück Classique, can be used with ink cartridges and can also be filled from an ink bottle using a piston converter. Almost all the other fountain pens can be used with cartridges.
If you are not sure if your fountain pen uses ink or ink cartridges, feel free to reach out to us and include information about your writing instrument.
