Montblanc 1858
The Montblanc 1858 Collection is inspired by the adventurous world of mountain exploration. Reinterpreting the Minerva pocket watches and chronographs from the 1920s and 1930s, the Montblanc 1858 timepieces honour the spirit of the past while embodying the modern trend of returning to nature. These watches from the beginning of the 20th century were highly accurate, legible and robust for use in extreme conditions.

Dedicated to the world of mountain exploration, the latest iteration of the 1858 collection turns blue to pay homage to one of the most extreme challenges an explorer is likely to face – arctic and glacier ice. Taking inspiration from the accurate and robust military pocket watches produced by Minerva throughout 1920s and 1930s, the new Montblanc 1858 timepieces are built to weather extreme conditions as well as look great both at the mountain summit and in a board room.

The updated Montblanc 1858 Geosphere features a complication of two domed globes that complete a full rotation in 24 hours, an updated blue dial, held by a bi-directional bezel crafted in steel and ceramic, and now comes with a blue calfskin or titanium strap. Alongside the delightfully retro 1858 Automatic, the new striking 1858 Split Second Chronograph completes the line-up. Limited to only 100 pieces and equipped with the complex split-second, or “rattrapante“, complication, it features transparent back reveals the beating heart of the timepiece, while the traditional circular graining and the ‘Côtes de Genève’ stripes continue the time-honoured design codes of the manufacture.
From the base to the summit, from the forest to the glacier the 1858 collection is a celebration of the spirit of exploration and an invitation to recenter yourself by returning to nature.

Today, the dials feature strong colour contrasts with vintage luminescent Arabic indexes, a railway minuterie track and the original Montblanc logo from the 1930s era with its historical font and emblem of the Mont Blanc mountain. The collection finds harmony in nature, speaking to those who are expressive in their own style, authentic in their way of life and destined for new heights.
