Montblanc Young Directors Project

As part of the Salzburg Festival, the international cultural brand Montblanc has supported the Young Directors Project since 2002, an exciting competition for young, international theatre directors and their ensembles.

24-Hour Plays on Broadway

“Six writers, six directors, twenty-four actors, a musical guest and production team wrote, casted, rehearsed and performed in six brand new plays in only 24 hours." Each cast member brainstorms ideas before the writers begin to compose the plays, which have to be completed by 6:00 a.m. the next morning. With only twelve hours to rehearse, the actors perform the six new plays, interspersed with musical acts, for one night.

Through this exceptional project the audience has the chance to experience the incomparable thrill of live theatre. Million dollars for Urban Arts Partnership is proud to have helped this benefit grow to gather an astonishing array of sponsors and a pool of talented artists, including past performers Jennifer Aniston, Benjamin Bratt, Billy Crudup, David Cross, Alan Cumming, Rachel Dratch, Michael Ealy, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Scarlett Johansson, Aasif Mandvi, Julianna Margulies, Julianne Moore, Anna Paquin, Christina Ricci, Chris Rock, Brooke Shields, Ashley Greene, Elijah Wood, and many more.
