HOW TO FILL YOUR WRITING INSTRUMENT
Follow these step-by-step instructions to fill your writing instrument. A separate adapter must be used for each ink color, and the filling process must be carried out with the cap closed.
When flying, use the standard cap for the ink bottle and close it tightly. Clean your writing instrument before using a new ink bottle, as described in the "Cleaning" section on this page.
Step 1
Remove the standard cap from the ink bottle.
With the filling adapter cap, turn the ink bottle adapter clockwise onto the ink bottle until it is firmly seated. Then, turn the ink bottle adapter cap counterclockwise so the adapter remains on the bottle.

Step 2
Unscrew the cone from the barrel by turning it counterclockwise. With the cap still attached, place the writing instrument onto the ink bottle adapter.
Step 3
Gently press the writing instrument to its stop position and then release it. The filling process will start. Wait until the writing instrument has reached its starting position. Repeat these steps 2 times for the initial filling and after cleaning.
Step 4
Remove the writing instrument from the ink bottle immediately.
Hold the writing instrument with the cap pointing downwards and screw the cone onto the barrel by turning it clockwise. Turn the cone so that the nib symbol lines up with the dot.
Step 5
Turn the cone between the nib and drop symbols slowly several times during the initial filling and gently oscillate the writing instrument to speed up the process. The writing instrument is now ready for use.
Note: When filling for the first time, the ink flow may stagnate. To learn how to ease the ink flow, go to the General Information or the "Cleaning" section in the instruction manual.

Step 6
If the ink flow decreases, the writing tank must be refilled. To fill it with ink from the filling tank, proceed as follows.
Hold the writing instrument with the nib pointing downwards and turn the cone so the drop symbol lines up with the dot.
After approximately 5 seconds, turn the cone back so the nib symbol lines up with the dot.

CLEANING
HOW TO CLEAN YOUR WRITING INSTRUMENT
Step 1
Prepare 2 glasses of clear water and fill the cleaning tool with a small amount of water by squeezing it slightly.
Set the filled cleaning tool aside briefly to carry out the following steps with the writing instrument.
Step 2
Turn the cone from the barrel counterclockwise to unscrew it. Then, turn the cap counterclockwise to prepare for the cleaning process.

Turn the cone from the barrel counterclockwise to unscrew it. Then, turn the cap counterclockwise to prepare for the cleaning process.
Step 3
With the nib pointing downwards, attach the cone adapter to the writing instrument by applying light pressure until it stops, ensuring that the open-lock symbol is lined up with the dot.
While pressing the cone adapter towards the barrel, turn it clockwise until the closed-lock symbol and the dot are lined up. When the adapter is released, a gap should appear between the writing instrument and the adapter, indicating it is correctly seated.
Note: The valve may protrude when attaching or removing the cone adapter. If so, please check the General Information in the product manual.
Step 4
Firmly screw the cleaning tool onto the cone adapter by turning it clockwise as far as it will go.
Step 5
Dip the writing instrument up to its forepart into the dirty-water glass. Squeeze the cleaning tool and keep it compressed to flush the water through the writing instrument. Then, move the writing instrument to the clean-water glass while compressing the cleaning tool.
Release the cleaning tool so that water is sucked in for approximately 10 seconds, then remove the writing instrument from the glass. The cleaning tool will automatically fill with air.
Hold the writing instrument over the dirty glass and rinse it. Repeat this procedure until clear water flows out of the writing instrument.
Lastly, squeeze and release the cleaning tool several times without dipping in water to remove residual water from the writing instrument.

Step 6
Take a clean, lint-free cloth, wrap it carefully around the nib, and soak up any remaining water while pressing the cleaning tool.
Step 7
Unscrew the cleaning tool from the cone adapter by turning it counterclockwise.
Step 8
While pressing the cone adapter towards the barrel, turn the cone adapter until the open-lock symbol lines up with the dot. Pull the adapter off the writing instrument. Screw the cap back on and refill the writing instrument as described in the “Filling” section on this page, or screw the cap and the cone back on to store the writing instrument without ink.
Step 9
After filling the cleaned writing instrument, turn the cone to the writing position and hold the nib on a lint-free, clean cloth to encourage an even and rich ink flow.

GENERAL INFORMATION
For the initial filling, repeat the filling step 2 times. See Step 3 in the “Filling” section on this page for more details.
After repeating the filling step 2 times, remove the writing instrument from the adapter. Turn the writing instrument with the cap facing downwards and shake it 3 times.
Then, after you screw the cone back on, turn the cone back and forth at least 3 times between the writing and filling positions.
With new writing instruments, the ink flow may fail or take a comparatively long time to start after the initial filling, as the components are moistened with liquid for the first time. You can facilitate the ink flow by flushing the writing instrument with water before filling it. To do this, clean the writing instrument as described in this page’s “Cleaning” section.

If the valve is sticking out of the barrel, insert the cone adapter as follows. Please refer to the pictures in the product manual.
Connect the cone adapter to the writing instrument, ensuring the open-lock symbol lines up with the dot. Rotate the cone adapter to line up with the closed-lock symbol with the dot while slightly pressing it towards the barrel until the cone adapter snaps. A gap between the adapter and the writing instrument should appear, indicating that the adapter is in the correct position.
