How long will a Montblanc ink bottle last?
While there’s a fair amount of variation, you can expect fountain pen ink to last up to 1.6 times longer when using a fine as opposed to a medium nib. A 50ml bottle will last around 1250 pages (A4) with a medium nib, increasing to 3200 pages with a fine nib. Factors such as your calligraphy style, the wetness of your pen, and the absorbency of the paper will also have a bearing.
You should clean your fountain pen every 4-8 weeks to ensure a writing experience of the highest quality. This will mean carefully removing the cartridge or converter before flushing the nib and gripping the part of the pen with cold water. Your fountain pen should also be stored horizontally to prevent the nib from drying out and the pen from spilling into the cap.
Can I use Montblanc ink bottles with other brands of fountain pens?
While the Montblanc ink bottles may work with some other fountain pen brands, we can’t guarantee that this is the case. Rather, we recommend making exclusive use of the premium ink supplies within corresponding fountain pens from the Montblanc range. We also advise against mixing the different colours of Montblanc ink together.
