A JOURNEY THROUGH CHÂTEAU DE VERSAILLES

MONTBLANC HIGH ARTISTRY

This High Artistry collection celebrates the grandeur of Château de Versailles, and the exceptional craftsmanship that brings it to life. Each writing instrument is a testament to artisanal mastery – crafted with intricate details and exquisite materials inspired in part by the Palace’s gilded interiors, its manicured gardens, and the royal figures that once resided there.

LIMITED EDITION 479

King Louis XIV’s private chamber was known for its elegance and opulence. Its refined white walls are mirrored in this edition’s lacquered body, while the solid Au 750 gold accents pay homage to the room’s intricate gilded details. Delicate engravings underneath the lacquer on the barrel’s surface complete the design, mimicking the cabinet’s luxurious ornamental motifs.

LIMITED EDITION 195

The vivid colours and geometric layout of Château de Versailles Orangerie inspire this edition’s design. The cap and barrel are decorated with a striking green Aventurine which is offset by fine, signature gold skeleton overlay. It reflects the precise, symmetrical layout of the Orangerie and its verdant collection of citrus trees, which were carefully selected by King Louis XIV.

LIMITED EDITION 18

The Limited Edition 18 captures the artistry and the secrecy that were central to life at Château de Versailles. Decorative inlays echo the rare and exotic marbles of the Palace’s Hercules Room. The cap top features a hidden compartment, engraved with a secret code from the “Grand Cipher” – the system used by Louis XIV to send confidential messages.

LIMITED EDITION 7

The opulence of Château de Versailles’ most famous room, the Hall of Mirrors, is captured in delicate, detailed inlays that reflect the room’s sequence of dazzling mirrors and shimmering chandeliers. In a nod to the Palace’s evolution, the cap opens to reveal a miniature painting of Château de Versailles as it appeared in 1678, before the grand Hall of Mirrors was constructed.

LIMITED EDITION 3

This edition captures the artistic grandeur and magnificence of the Hall of Mirrors and the Palace's gardens in sublime detail, as seen through the grand windows of the palace. The cap and barrel reveal an intricate painting of the breathtaking view of the Apollo Fountain and the Grand Canal, which can be seen from inside the Hall of Mirrors. Elegantly set with over 1,000 brilliant-cut diamonds, the writing instrument dazzles and reflects light just as the hall's mirrors once did.

shape

The shape of this collection is inspired by the design of the “endless pen”, invented in 1707 by Louis XIV’s royal engineer, Nicolas Bion. The instrument could hold enough ink to write a few sentences, and earned Bion recognition as a pioneer of the reservoir fountain pen.

clip

Early in his reign, Louis XIV adopted the sun as his personal emblem, famously styling himself Le Roy Soleil (“The Sun King”). Considered to be the centre of the universe the clip ends in an elaborate depiction of Apollo’s head encircled by the rays of the sun and set in a solid Au 750 yellow gold plate.
