HONOURING THE GREAT GATSBY

MONTBLANC GREAT CHARACTERS

Our Montblanc Great Characters collection honours the novel The Great Gatsby — and how its protagonist, Jay Gatsby, exemplified the American Dream. Gatsby’s fictional life represents the glamour and misery of wealth in the 1920s, inspiring generations of readers to think deeply about ambition, social class, and morality. Discover writing instruments, including the Special Edition and Limited Edition 1925, symbolizing this iconic literary character.

PRODUCT INSPIRATION

Paying homage to the self-made man, Jay Gatsby's initials adorn the cap of each writing instrument in a decorative crest.

Notable elements in the novel — Jay Gatsby's famous yellow car, Art Deco, and the green light, symbolizing Gatsby's love for Daisy and his American Dream — are represented in the nib.

A money clip — a symbol of American wealth and success — inspires the shape of each writing instrument's clip.

The cone of each edition is modeled on the lid of a hip flask, which is a nod to Prohibition and the success of the Bootleggers during the Roaring Twenties.
