Montblanc dedicates a very special limited edition to a few dragons that have become some of the most honored in East Asian culture.
The ninth in the series features the powerful Hovering Dragon. This majestic character winds its body sinuously around the solid Au 750 white gold cap and barrel as an artful hand-engraving. Its body is fully set with blue, gray and black sapphires representing clouds and rain, as the cloudy celestial spheres are where the Hovering Dragon reigns. Blue sapphires are set as the dragon’s eyes while its spine is made of white jade.
The cap and barrel are further enriched with engraved elements, symbolizing auspicious clouds. Since it is said that the ninth son of the dragon, the fish-like Chi Wen, acts as a protector against floods and fire hazards in imperial roof decorations and classical Chinese architecture, the handcrafted, solid Au 750 gold nib bears a delicate engraving of auspicious waves and is adorned with a blue sapphire.
The design is further enriched with an engraving of the dragon’s head on the solid Au 750 gold forepart and a blue iolite set in the cone.
The cap top is crowned by the Montblanc diamond, surrounded by brilliant-cut diamonds.
