MONTBLANC
A SWISS WATCHMAKER SINCE 1858
Montblanc Watchmaking is built on a set-up that brings two manufactures together, based in Le Locle and in Villeret, in the Swiss Jura mountains.
The Montblanc watchmaking story began in 1858 when Charles-Ivan Robert founded a watch workshop in Villeret. This marked the beginning of the historic Minerva era. By the end of the 19th century, their pocket watches started to gain recognition. The Minerva manufacture’s success resulted in the company becoming a leading specialist in professional watches (stopwatches & chronographs) for measuring small intervals of time with high precision during the 20th century.
Today, the Montblanc timepieces continue the journey of over 160 years of Minerva history into its collection with : 1858, Heritage and Star Legacy product lines, all linking the past and the present through design, style and technical innovation.

THE SPIRIT OF EXPLORATION
Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, the Minerva workshop produced several watches exclusively designed for exploration and military use. Built for extreme conditions, they were highly legible, incredibly accurate, and very robust. And of course, they were also beautiful. So, it’s no wonder we’ve taken these long revered timepieces as inspiration for the Montblanc 1858 line.

GEOSPHERE LIMITED EDITION 1858
With its two rotating hemispheres and in-house worldtime complication, the 1858 Geosphere is a key piece of the collection. And after ascending mountains, trekking forests, and exploring glaciers, this year's Montblanc 1858 Geosphere finds inspiration in the colours of the desert.
The new theme is a nod to Reinhold Messner’s 2004 solo trek across the Gobi Desert – 2000 kilometres of extreme temperatures and incredible adventure. To capture the rocky terrain's colour scheme, the timepiece harmoniously combines a satinated bronze case, brown ceramic bezel, smoked brown to beige lacquered dial, and a matching vintage-brown calf strap.

MONOPUSHER CHRONOGRAPH ORIGINS LIMITED EDITION 100
During the 1930's, Minerva developed a 46 mm military monopusher chronograph equipped with the calibre 19-09CH. Its large case was necessary in order to integrate the movement, which was originally intended for a pocket watch. The movement was so far ahead of its time, that even today it looks remarkably modern.
This year we are pleased to unveil the new 1858 Monopusher Chronograph Origins Limited Edition 100, honouring that legendary monopusher chronograph. Equipped with the calibre MB M16.29, this re-edition features a 46 mm case made of a special bronze alloy, a vintage style black dial with beige elements, and a matching brown Sfumato alligator strap. It's distinctive officer’s case back opens to reveal the movement inside and features an engraving of Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom. The engraving's incredible depth and near photo-realism is only possible thanks to a very innovative technique.

PYTAGORE SMALL SECOND LIMITED EDITION 148
The Heritage Pythagore Small Second Limited Edition 148 pays tribute to the Minerva calibre No. 48, developed and produced in the manufacture in Villeret in 1948.
Taking inspiration from the original movement and meticulously following the golden ratio principle, Montblanc engineers have developed the Manufacture Calibre MB M14.08, with distinctive geometrical shapes and straight lines. They first defined the movement diameter of 31.6 mm in order to fit into a modern size case with enough room to apply the golden pentagon, in which a five-point branch star is obtained via the intersection of golden triangles.

MONTBLANC STAR LEGACY
SUSPENDED EXO TOURBILLON LIMITED EDITION 18
The Montblanc Star Legacy Suspended Exo Tourbillon Limited Edition 18 demonstrates mastery of artisanal aesthetic, and both classical and traditional complications. The patented Suspended Exo Tourbillon complication was developed entirely in-house by watchmakers at the Montblanc Manufacture in Villeret, requiring three years of development. The structure of the Suspended Exo Tourbillon allowed them to create a large balance wheel while eliminating the need to increase the size of the movement or the case. The balance wheel floats 3.2 mm above of the dial, thanks to a bridge with a single, curved stainless steel arm that mirrors the domed hour circle at 12 o'clock.
