The Legend of Zodiacs The Horse Limited Edition 512 Fountain Pen

C$8,300.00
The Montblanc The Legend of Zodiacs The Horse Limited Edition 512 (8x8x8) is dedicated to the seventh sign of the zodiac as well as the number 8, which is considered a lucky number in Asian cultures. The cap is made of Ag 925 sterling silver and is adorned with a skilfull recreation of a hand-engraved figure of a horse, in honour of both the sign of the zodiac and the swift, long-limbed horses of ancient China. Fleet-footed, well-proportioned and seeming to fly like the wind, they were called ‘tianma’ – heavenly horses. Earliest references describe them as a symbol of positivity and promise. The animal’s grace is evoked on the cap by the delicate turn of the head, its typical Chinese hair bun and its smooth gait. Surrounding the horse are delicately engraved ornaments inspired by the ‘lucky cloud’ (祥云), a symbol of luck in China. The platinum-coated barrel is decorated with a fine ornamental engraving inspired by the lucky Chinese knot symbol ‘Zhōngguó jié’ (中国结), while the cone is decorated with a topaz as a reference to the birthstone of the horse sign. The current year of the horse, 2026, is engraved on the cap ring alongside the six previous years of the horse, while the cap is crowned with the Montblanc emblem in mother-of-pearl. The motif of the flying horse also features the handcrafted, rhodium-coated solid Au 750 gold nib.
